About
Hello! We are the Vasquez family. We have been passionate about teaching language through immersion since having our own children. We found that our children learn best through activities such as art, literature and song, so we plan to incorporate that teaching style into everything we do at Valiente Dual Academy.
Mission
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for homeschooled children to learn a second language alongside their peers in a faith-based, encouraging setting. Our focus is to offer Spanish language immersion through art, literature and cultural projects.
Vision
We offer a welcoming environment for homeschooled children to cultivate their natural excitement for learning. We believe in fostering young minds to explore God's creation through intentional programs in language learning and core subjects to lead them to discover new worlds together.
FAQs
How much instruction will be in Spanish?
We will be using an 90/10 approach where 90 percent of the class will be taught in Spanish and 10 percent will be in English.
What are the benefits of Spanish Immersion?
Language immersion in young children has proven in scientific studies to enhance cognitive skills in problem solving, memory, attention control and even better understanding of their primary language.
Is 5 hours a week enough time for my child to become fluent?
During the earliest years, a child's brain is developmentally zoned in to language learning. In an immersive (Spanish only) and playful environment children will retain information faster. Every child will respond differently, but conversational Spanish and language exposure is the best way to encourage fluency.
What ages or grades do you facilitate?
Starting out, we are offering classes for Kindergarten through 5th grade with hopes to expand our offerings in the 2025-2026 school year.
Where do you meet?
We hold classes at Beachside Community Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
How many students are in each class?
Our class size is 10 students per class. We believe in a small classroom format in order for kids to get the most out of the language learning experience.
Do you accept Step Up For Students Scholarship?
Yes! We are approved providers in the Step Up For Students EMA system for the PEP Scholarship.
